Winch Rope Blanket / Damper – Recovery Safety Accessory
Description
The Winch Rope Blanket (also called a winch rope damper) is a critical safety accessory for any Jimny fitted with a winch. When a winch rope — steel wire or synthetic — fails under load, it recoils with tremendous force and can cause serious injury or death to bystanders.
A winch rope blanket/damper is placed over the rope midpoint during winching. In the event of a rope failure, the blanket absorbs and suppresses the snap-back of the rope, dramatically reducing the energy directed at people nearby. Every serious winch operator uses one.
